Un ensayo de presentación de uno de mis proyectos . Mi interés por las problemáticas especificas del agua en el medio ambiente se acelero al llegar en Australia, Empece con ideas en torno a esta temática en el 1993. Este proyecto de sed de humanidad empezó a tomar forma publica en 1998 y en el dos mil tomo esa forma que presento en el vídeo , en una instalación que estuvo en diversos lugares .

Es una instalación variable que presenta varias posibilidades o variaciones diferentes . En algunos casos incluye otras temáticas relacionadas con el agua . En la instalación del vídeo por ejemplo se relaciona la idea general o metáfora básica del agua con el reflejo de la vida y la muerte , con la sal servida en copas de champaña .En el vídeo no se ven pero las copas están gravadas, la mano mecánica es un collage construida en cartón y papel .

El problema del avance de la salinidad en Australia siendo bien grande , por desgracia siguen pasando las décadas y no solo los años y este problema al nivel de los medios de comunicación o de responsables políticos sigue bajo la alfombra.

Thirst of Humanity - Water faces

A trial presentation of one of my projects. My interest in the specific problems of water in the environment has accelerated in Australia to get started with ideas on this theme in 1993. This thirst for Humanity project began to take shape in 1998 and published produced-in 2000 in the form shown by the video, in an installation that was shown in a variety of locations.

It is a variable installation that has several different options or variations. In some cases it includes other topics related to water. In the video installation, for example, relates the basic idea or metaphor of the water with the reflection of life and death, with salt served in champagne glasses. In the video it is not shown but the glasses are engraved, the mechanical hand is a collage made of cardboard and paper.

The problem of increased salinity in Australia is getting bigger, unfortunately decades keep passing by and not just years and this problem in terms of media and socio-political responsibility remains hidden under the carpet.

EVOCACIONES: EXHIBITION BY FEDERICO MENDOZA, Galeria De Arte, Natalia Gil, Valencia , Spain, 1-29 October 2009

Don’t be misled by the title of Federico Mendoza’s exhibition “Evocationes”. His collage-images evoke places, sometimes named in the titles such as Valencia, The Mediterranean or Alice Springs. Other titles are more descriptive. It does not take much looking to be convinced that the artist invites us on a journey of creative associations. There is no need to deny that the places or undisclosed events reside in the past or present reality. They are used as a material for creative process. Mendoza plays with the juxtaposition of images, architecture, landscape, human figure, plants, and occasional unanimated objects to provoke us viewers to our own evocations. He gives us ample visual references to set off our own journey of imagination.

Take the tree trunk with superimposed woman’s figure reproduced on the promotional material for the exhibition. There is a story, deeply rooted in European folk tradition, of the beautiful young witch, who for an unknown reason continued to rub her itchy lips on the bark of the tree. In the process the tree became partially humanised, enough to be endowed with a craving for love, but not given human flesh, and therefore destined for a life deprived of companionship.

While the images provoke evocation they can also stand for their own visual qualities. They are uneven. Mendoza’s pictures vary from quite formal still life and playful architectural composition to animated ones, with trees, arms and butterflies. They vary from audacious to light-hearted, or nearly naïve.

For me the most engaging pictures include the night city scape combined with a large human face (or mask) as well as a crude carving of human-face (or mask) positioned in a bush with the lava-red rocky cliffs in the background. The first, cityscape, evokes migration and a painful loneliness in the alien urban night. The human-face carving in the bush suggests abandonment where the face-artefact is a reminder of distant humanity, while the bush appears active and strong. But the most dynamic are the red rocks. They seem to be advancing in a powerful geological force to annihilate the bush and passive, nearly forgotten human existence.

Don’t be influenced by my readings, attempt your own. This exhibition is thought-provoking, it is prompting evocations in a non-didactic, open-ended manner. And this is to be valued in the modern world where so much slick propaganda and public relation manipulations makes us embrace all shadows of cultural or artistic pretence.

Un barrio de la "Parte Vieja"

Este es uno de los raros murales que he tenido la ocasion de ver
donde una parte es en bajo relieve .

El simbolismo obvio del "ejecutivo calavera", enfatiza el mensaje político .

Representado el lado doble especulativo de la globalización,
el financiero e inmobiliario con sus dosis de
perdida de identidad comunitaria en barrios y ciudades.

Es tema que se presta bien bien para el mensaje político
o de protesta . Si llega este mensaje al consumidor comprador a crédito y
ciudadano moderno eso probablemente es otra historia .
Bueno es la mismísima historia humana, que se va repitiendo
a dosis de indiferencia de muchos y la conciencia que retuerce
las tripas de los menos .
En todo caso representa un buen "Réquiem" para
tantas zonas en las grandes ciudades
que se volvieron moribundas en carácter propio
y espíritu comunitario .

Un nocturno de Paris :: era una tarde de Diciembre bien frìa , de hecho en los dìas siguientes nevò .

Claro que en esta panorámica el frìo no se ve.

Con un familiar hicimos un gran paseo desde la puerta de Maillet , y todo a lo largo de losCampos Elyseos

Hasta llegar a la Seine

One night in Paris, it was a very cold December evening, in fact in the following days it was snowing.

Of course in this panorama we can’t see the cold.
With a family member we had a great walk from the “Porte de Maillot , walking along the “Champs Elysees” and then we reached the Seine.

- Une nocturne à Paris, c'était un soir de Décembre très froid, en fait, dans les jours suivants, il neigeait.
Bien entendu, dans ce panorama, on ne voit pas le froid.
Avec un membre de la famille nous avons eu une grande marche de la Porte d'Auteuil, en marchant le long des "Champs Elysées" et puis nous avons atteint la Seine.

Colorful Night in Valencia
The nightlife, with multiple lights and reflections has always a certain magical quality. The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia makes no exception to that fascination of the human eye
and photography.

When the cloak of night extended his veil with some friends we walked
walk through the place and I take the opportunity to take photos.


This picture looks like it is celebrating a subtle worlds’ myriad between the abstract and the real that are created by architecture and light. reflexions.

COMMUNITIES IN ACTION -CULTURES AND TRADITIONS


Fiesta Solidaria en el Showground de Fairfield / Domingo 30 de Agosto 2009.
Este evento esta organizado por Uruguayos Unidos que es una Asociación de Caridad y Beneficencia registrada en 1992 (Australia )
Esta actividad es una de la mas importantes que crean en Australia . Cada año convoca muy diversos miembros de la comunidad de habla hispánica a este lindo encuentro de cultura , tradición y solidaridad. Al mismo tiempo que los Miembros de la Comunidad Uruguaya celebran el Día de la Independencia .

Los fondos que se obtienen de este festival se dedican a ayudar a instituciones publicas del Uruguay Hospitales ,Policlínicas y Escuelas
La fiesta comenzará a las 10 de la mañana y se extenderá hasta las 10 de la noche.
Se espera que como cada año el publico será muy numeroso y variado, el espectáculo previsto, cierto que es muy diverso ; con tres orquestas para bailar,
variado folklore de la comunidad iberoamericana e incluso una exposición de artistas .

This event is organized by United Uruguayan Association, it is a Charity and Welfare Organization registered in Australia in 1992.
This activity is one of the most important one organized in Australia..
Each year different members of the Hispanic-speaking community are invited to this event of culture, tradition and solidarity.
It is as well the Uruguyan Independance day celebration.
Funds raised from this festival are directed to Uruguyan public institutions: hospitals, polyclinics and schools.

The party will start at 10 am and will last until 10 pm.
It is hoped that the public will be very large and diverse as usual.
The show presented will include different and varied performances.
Varied Ibero - American folkloric groups, three orchestras for dancing and even an artists exhibition.
